Winter Rains

Over night we had 11 mm of rain and today in one down pour I measured 4 mm of rain. In that down pour was also small hail.

The state has had some wild weather go through in the last 24 hours or so. Thankfully here at Lucky's Duck Farm we only had a small amount of rain and wind.

Unlike some other suburbs that suffered wind damage to their houses or trees falling on houses. Also some of the coastal suburbs suffered from high tides, resulting in flooding.

My rain water tank is over flowing and its these times that we wish there was a second rainwater tank.

Poultry area is well and truly soaked with water starting to hang as the soil is now so soaked from all the rain.

Plants are thriving with the rain and its nice not having to worry about watering. This month the SA Government decided to ban watering gardens and lawns with sprinklers and hoses. Leaving the garden to the elements of the winter rains, though buckets are still allowed to be used when watering the garden.

No gardening again today, not that there is a lot to be done at this time of the year. Mind you the weeds are getting away from me and I need to get some of them removed once the weather settles down again.

Until next time....hoo roo
